Discussions and debates have recently emerged on the potential positive and negative effects of cow’s milk in the pediatric community, also under the pressure of public opinion. Although feeding cow’s milk to an infant is more than thousand year old tradition in India, it is unsafe practice in modern context. There seems to be significant compromise being made on infant’s health as mother’s milk is being substituted for variety of reasons in the 1st year itself, when the child is most vulnerable to infections noted by experts. Nutrition experts are worried that infants in the country may be silently suffering from reduced nutrient content in their milk due to common household practices such as boiling, adding water, removing the layer of milk cream, strip milk of its essential nutrients and vitamins. The most important of these is in some infants cow’s milk may be sensitive and sometimes strains the digestive system of babies. Ayurveda gives lots of importance on good nutrition at every stage of child’s life, in order to preserve their health. To make the most health benefits of cow’s milk and to boost its digestive properties in children, one should recommend aushadhasiddhadugdha (herbs infused milk) to infants. Milk when digested properly, nourishes all the tissues, promote balanced emotions and help to balance all the doshas in child as well as in an adult.

Only these both sciences are medical sciences on the earth, who thinks not only a physical body but also Mind & Spirit. Ayurveda, the science of life is one of the ancient and comprehensive systems of health care. Quest for good health and long life is probably as old as human existence. According to Indian philosophy, health is prerequisite to pursue materialistic, social and spiritual upliftment of human being. It is believed that Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe was also the first preacher of Ayurveda. The proactive efforts made by India in positioning the Ayurveda and Yoga as the soft power of India and at the same time generating evidence about the health benefits as well as safety of these systems has given significant boost to demand of Ayurveda and Yoga. Bharat has a long history and strong base of Ayurveda which is gaining the attention of international community& this will definitely help to make Bharat as Vishwa-Guru. The health promotive, disease preventive and curative roles of Ayurveda with its holistic approach are the reasons for its acceptance. Based on sound concept and practices, Ayurved System of Medicine is well documented, experienced & not experimented as modern medicine, that’s why it is called ‘Tailor made medicine’. Ayurveda’s Fundamental principles are eternal, never be changed. Ideal treatment according to Ayurveda is one which cures the disease without causing adverse effect.

Amlapitta is a commonly encountered Ayurvedic clinical condition arising from impaired Agni and the vitiation of Pitta and Kapha, often accompanied by Vata involvement. Therapeutic dietetics (Pathya–Apathya) play a foundational role in its management, yet their application requires precise interpretation based on do?a dominance, Agni status, and presenting symptoms. This study presents a critical analysis of Pathya dravyas described for Amlapitta, examining their gu?a, v?rya and karma with respect to the observed patterns of sampr?pti. This study critically analyses classical Pathya dravyas by correlating their gu?a, v?rya and karma with the four major presentations of Amlapitta—tikt?mlodg?ra/d?ha-pradh?na, avip?ka-pradh?na, ??la-pradh?na, and sarvalak?a?a types. The findings highlight that most Pathya substances exhibit laghu–ruk?a–??ta or kapha-pittahara properties, supporting Agni restoration and do?a balance. Apathyadravyas, being ati-guru, ati-u??a or kapha-pitta-prakopaka, facilitates the sampr?pti and require strict avoidance. However, the analysis also reveals that a dravya beneficial in one subtype may act as Apathya in another; for example, ??ta-v?rya items suitable for d?ha-pradh?na Amlapitta can worsen avip?ka-pradh?na conditions dominated by mand?gni and kleda. This analysis concludes that Ayurvedic therapeutic dietetics for Amlapitta must be tailored to the stage, do?a involvement and Agni status, ensuring that Pathya acts not only as symptomatic relief but as a corrective tool for digestive physiology and long-term disease prevention.
